• What is Hwatu?
Hwatu (花鬪) is one of the popular card games in Korea, consisting of a total of 48 cards, grouped into 12 different sets, each representing one of the 12 months. The name “Hwatu” translates to “flower fight” in a literal sense, as these playing cards are designed to be used for card games in Korea. While some of the cards may occasionally feature animals, most of them are adorned with illustrations of flowers or plants. The game is named “Hwatu” because it involves competing with opponents using these cards, thus “fighting with flowers.”
